Wingman Privacy Policy
Effective Date: August 22, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Shama Bildikar, the operator of Wingman ("Wingman," "we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, processes, and protects information in connection with the Wingman beta.
Wingman is designed to help high-school students discover and organize extracurricular activities, competitions, internships, programs, and other opportunities.
By using Wingman, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information that users voluntarily provide to Wingman.
Depending on how you use the Service, this may include:
Account information
- name;
- email address;
- account credentials or authentication information; and
- information necessary to establish and maintain your account.
Student profile information
Users may choose to provide information such as:
- interests;
- activities;
- educational information;
- goals;
- location information;
- extracurricular experiences;
- preferences;
- college-preparation information; and
- other information they choose to include in their profile.
You control what information you provide to your profile.
Resume and profile uploads
Wingman allows users to provide resume or profile information by:
- uploading a PDF or text file; or
- pasting profile information into Wingman.
Uploaded files are processed to extract or use relevant information for Wingman features. Wingman does not retain the uploaded file itself after processing.
Information extracted from or provided through an upload may become part of your Wingman profile and may be retained according to this Privacy Policy.
Automatically collected information
We may automatically collect certain technical and usage information when you use Wingman, including information such as:
- browser and device information;
- IP address;
- approximate location derived from technical information;
- pages or features accessed;
- dates and times of access;
- basic usage information; and
- information collected through cookies or similar technologies.
We do not intentionally collect precise geolocation information.
2. How We Use Information
We use information to operate and improve Wingman.
For example, we may use information to:
- create and maintain user accounts;
- build and update user profiles;
- identify opportunities that may be relevant to users;
- rank opportunities based on information users provide;
- generate activity recommendations;
- organize saved opportunities;
- generate deadlines and tasks;
- provide and improve Wingman features;
- maintain security;
- detect misuse;
- understand how users interact with Wingman;
- troubleshoot technical problems;
- communicate with users about the Service; and
- develop and improve Wingman.
3. AI Processing
Wingman uses artificial intelligence to provide certain features.
Information contained in a user's profile may be sent to third-party AI service providers, including Anthropic and Google, to process information and provide features such as opportunity ranking, profile generation, recommendations, and other functionality.
We do not represent that third-party AI providers will retain or process information exactly as Wingman does. Their own policies and contractual arrangements may apply to their processing.
We do not intentionally use user information to train our own AI models.
We also do not represent that third-party providers will never use information for model training or other purposes outside Wingman's direct control. We will seek to use appropriate provider configurations and agreements consistent with our intended privacy practices.
4. Opportunity Recommendations
Wingman may use information in a user's profile to identify and rank opportunities.
Before a user's profile contains sufficient information for personalized ranking, Wingman may allow the user to browse available opportunities without personalized AI ranking.
Once sufficient profile information is available, Wingman may use that information to determine which opportunities may be more relevant to the user.
The recommendations are not guarantees and should not be interpreted as professional admissions or educational advice.
5. Information We Do Not Collect Intentionally
Wingman does not intentionally collect precise GPS location information.
Wingman also does not currently provide public profiles, public posts, social feeds, user-to-user messaging, or other features designed to make student profile information publicly available.
Your Wingman profile and activity information are intended to remain private.
6. Sharing Information
We do not sell users' personal information.
We may share or provide access to information with service providers when reasonably necessary to operate Wingman.
These providers may include:
- artificial-intelligence providers;
- hosting and infrastructure providers;
- analytics providers;
- authentication providers;
- security providers; and
- other technical service providers.
We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to:
- comply with law or legal process;
- protect the rights, safety, or property of users or others;
- investigate fraud, abuse, or security incidents;
- enforce our Terms; or
- protect Wingman or its users.
If Wingman is ever sold, transferred, reorganized, or combined with another business, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law.
6A. Mailing-List Signup
If you use Wingman's optional mailing-list signup feature, we send your first and last name and the email address you confirm at the time to the organization's mailing-list provider, so that they can add you to their list.
This happens only for an opportunity you individually select and confirm. We do not send your details to any organization otherwise.
We keep a record of each signup you make: which opportunity, which email address you used, when it was submitted, and what the organization's provider answered. You can see this record in your Quest Log. We keep it so you can find what was sent on your behalf, and so we can tell whether a signup went through.
We cannot see whether you completed the organization's confirmation step, and we do not receive the organization's emails to you. Once your details reach the organization, their handling of that information is governed by their own privacy policy, not this one.
7. Analytics and Cookies
Wingman may use cookies, analytics tools, and similar technologies to understand how users interact with the Service, maintain functionality, improve performance, and diagnose problems.
The specific analytics and technology providers used by Wingman may change over time.
We will update this Privacy Policy as necessary when our material data practices change.
8. Minors and Parents
Wingman is available only to users 13 years of age or older.
Users under 18 must have permission from a parent or legal guardian before using Wingman.
We encourage parents and guardians to discuss online privacy and the information their students choose to provide to Wingman.
Wingman does not knowingly permit children under 13 to create accounts or use the Service.
If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without legally required parental consent, we will take reasonable steps to delete the information as required by applicable law.
Parents or guardians who have questions about a minor's use of Wingman may contact us at:

9. Information Retention
We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary to:
- provide Wingman;
- maintain user accounts;
- provide requested features;
- maintain security;
- comply with legal obligations;
- resolve disputes; or
- otherwise fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.
Uploaded resume and profile files are not retained after they have been processed for the relevant feature.
Information derived from those files may remain in a user's Wingman profile unless deleted or otherwise removed in accordance with our retention practices.
10. Deletion
Users may stop using Wingman at any time.
If you would like to request deletion of your account or personal information, contact:
shamabildikar78@gmail.com
We will evaluate and respond to deletion requests in accordance with applicable law and our ability to verify the request.
Some information may need to be retained where required by law, necessary to protect security, or otherwise permitted by applicable law.
11. Security
We take reasonable measures designed to protect information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.
However, no internet-based service can guarantee absolute security.
You should avoid providing information that is not reasonably necessary for using Wingman.
12. Third-Party Websites and Services
Wingman may reference or link to third-party websites, organizations, programs, or opportunities.
Those third parties have their own privacy practices. This Privacy Policy does not apply to information you provide directly to third parties.
You should review the privacy policies of third parties before providing them with personal information.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
As Wingman develops, our data practices may change.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide reasonable notice, such as by displaying a notice within Wingman or sending an email.
The updated Privacy Policy will become effective on the date indicated at the beginning of the updated policy.
14. Your Choices
