The Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) is a federal summer youth employment program that engages young people in meaningful work experiences on public lands—including national parks, forests, wildlife refuges, and fish hatcheries—while developing an ethic of public land stewardship and civic responsibility. Participants engage in outdoor projects such as trail building, habitat improvement, and historic preservation while earning at least the minimum wage.
