VASI is modeled on the Boston University School of Visual Arts undergraduate foundation curriculum. Drawing, as a critical skill for any artist, is the key component of the VASI curriculum. Students spend a minimum of 12 hours a week in drawing classes with a focus on working from observation, including from live models. Students also take classes in painting, sculpture, and printmaking. Individual studios provide students with the space to work on class assignments or individual projects. Regular critiques provide students with guidance on their work during the program and suggestions for further study.
