The Jackson Laboratory offers a research fellowship for high school juniors and seniors and undergraduate students during the academic year. Participants join a JAX research group to learn technical skills, design an independent research project with a mentor, and experience all aspects of scientific research from experimental design to reporting results. The fellowship must be tied to the student's formal education program for academic credit and requires a minimum commitment of 180 hours.
